Results of the capacity auction of December 10, 2020

The sixth capacity auction organized by EPEX in 2020 for the year 2021 took place on Thursday, December 10. The price of the capacity is up at €39,095/MW, bringing the average auction price for 2021 to €31,242/MW.

As a reminder, the average reference price of the capacity auctions was 19,458 €/MW for the year 2020.

The fourth capacity auction for the year 2022 also took place this Thursday with a stable price at €18,221/MW. However, the auction during the year, for the 2020 capacity guarantees, was lower than the previous auction, at €40,000/MW compared to €53,634/MW a month earlier. As a reminder, the ceiling price for the capacity mechanism has been set at €60,000/MW by the CRE for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022.
